Ubi Caritas
Music at memorial
Music holds an honored place in Episcopal worship. Our traditional music program at Memorial is highly varied. During our services, expect to sing from three different hymnals! Memorial's adult choir sings a wide range of music, from Renaissance polyphony to early American spirituals, from the traditional Anglican canon to new music.
Our services are accompanied by organ and piano. We have a Rogers 351D organ and a Baltimore-made Stieff grand piano in the sanctuary. We host brass ensembles, jazz ensembles, and various instrumental soloists throughout the year.
Our chancel choir sings the anthem, introit, Psalm, and hymns from September-May. We rehearse Thursdays from 7-9 pm and sing at the 10:30 am service.
We are a mostly volunteer choir with three hired section leaders. The time commitment is approximately 5 hours per week. If you are interested in joining or learning more about music at Memorial, please contact our music minister Justine Koontz at music@memorialepiscopal.org.
